Price of Milk

Tease for my Alaskan Friends
I've posted pictures before on the price of groceries in Alaska as compared to outside. Well, this is a great example. Next time someone ask why groceries cost so much in Alaska, just remember. When they say it's the (freight) it just means that's the codeword for good old fashion American Greed

Economy Runs Cold

The News on the Economy is about as frosty as this old Squirrel

How far do you think it will fall said the old squirrel?  How far what will fall I asked.  He said the stock market.  It's tanked two days in a row.  I said, it doesn't matter to me.  Heck I'm broke already anyway.  Now, that statement really worried the old squirrel.  He then looked at me and asked.  How many bags of sunflower seeds do you have stashed away?

Disappointment Runs Deep

The Cost of Medical Care

The old squirrel is fit to be tied, he was looking at the bills and the cost of one Doctors appointment for the wife was $190.00 for a half an hour office visit.  This new Doctor had asked the wife how she was paying for her perscriptions because she has no insurance.
The real question is now, how is she going to pay both at that rate.

www.thesquirrelcam.com

Web Site is Down
The Web page is down at www.thesquirrelcam.com   and this old squirrel is upset.  You guys have heard me rant about the cost and the speed of our internet access here in the Great Land before.
So, I'm not going to say anything more, but as you see when you try to access the page, it's not there.  I can't ftp the server to fix it either.  It's not on my end and I notified them about the problem last night on the 29th.  When it failed to accept a new pic update through the ftp.
Being it's a holiday weekend. Well, you know the story.

Electric Cost in Alaska

Oklahoma residential customers generally pay between 7.7-cents and 8.5-cents per kilowatt hour for electricity, among the lowest in the nation.

A North Pole Alaska residential customer pays $200.83 in energy and fuel adjustment charges for 991 KWH used. Which works out to .202 cents per kilowatt hour. Not counting additional customer charges. According to the last bill.

We live 450 miles from some of the largest known gas reserves in the world. Shame on Alaskan Politicians for letting things get to this point. Those in office and those in past office. Shame on the Board of Directors of Golden Valley for not having the foresight to tap those reserves with the States blessing. Let us have the resources promised by the constitution for the good of the people now.

Wake up Alaska
