Noise Pollution Rant from the Flyers

Noise Pollution

I was up this evening late do to an attack of insomnia.  While watching the flyers and listening to the noise from the road.  It's terrible, the amount of trucks and cars that have no mufflers or loud mufflers.  Here I am in the interior of Alaska and you wouldn't believe the noise pollution we are subjected too.  It seems there is so many here that believe the manly thing to have is a loud truck or car. They rev the engines and speed down the road as fast as they can making as much noise as they can.  Spoiling the very thing we long to have by living in the such unspoiled beauty that Alaska is suppose to represent.   Living here as long as I have, I've come to some conclusions.  The end of the roaders have taken over.   They brought everything they are trying to escape from here with them so they won't feel so alone.   Sad but true and now they are Alaskans living the dream.  More like a nightmare of noise and inconsideration for others.

www.thesquirrelcam.com

Web Site is Down
The Web page is down at www.thesquirrelcam.com   and this old squirrel is upset.  You guys have heard me rant about the cost and the speed of our internet access here in the Great Land before.
So, I'm not going to say anything more, but as you see when you try to access the page, it's not there.  I can't ftp the server to fix it either.  It's not on my end and I notified them about the problem last night on the 29th.  When it failed to accept a new pic update through the ftp.
Being it's a holiday weekend. Well, you know the story.

Death likely caused by exposure

The beauty of our Northern climate in the winter is spectacular, but it hides something just below surface. Even here in our beautiful fair city on the banks of a beautiful scenic river, there is something just below the surface and every once in a while it rears it's deadly side. Another resident has died of exposure, "death likely caused by exposure" screams out from the headlines. How many times will we read that in our Sunday morning headlines over that hot cup of coffee this winter. Once, twice, three times. Will there be more. Will it jolt us from our warm comfortable lives. How many residents of our fair city are living on that edge. How many of the rest of us really care.
