Little Girl Squirrels

The Yard is full of little Girl Squirrels

The yard this spring is full of little girl squirrels, young squirrels.  In fact I don't remember ever seeing this many little girl squirrels so close together on the Permafrost Ranch.  I'm starting to think that the lack of cone production in the area has forced them to shrink their ranges to areas of food.  I provide for many of them around the property.

Birds of Winter

RedPolls

It has been a winter of Redpolls here on the old Permafrost Ranch.  The feeders have been swarmed by them.  The speaker here in my squirrel hole is rocking all day long from their songs.  Having it up and running such does wonders for the spirit and soul.  You should stop by the streaming cam and have a listen for yourself.

Nighttime Flying Visitors

Glaucomys sabrinus yukonensis

Seems from the visitors to the streaming cam on the web site, that there is a stream of flyers coming to the feeding station.  I notice last night shortly after dark, one was on the feeder, then in the middle of the night, I hear them.  I get pictures from viewers who have seen them   Stop by and watch the action if you wish.

Are you kidding Me

Bubba hit the roof

After reading this article with bubba over coffee this morning.  He just couldn't believe it.  He then looked at me and said, these guys who shop there are they the same dudes that we are bailing out because they ran those wall street businesses into the ground.  Any of our legislators beside Jay Bird shop there.  I notice he wears those 1000 dollar suits
$7,000 for an off-the-rack-suit, or as much as $21,025 for made to order versions from Sach's in New York

Flyers on the Feeder

Always looking out for Trouble

The little flyers who land on the feeder are always facing out, looking for trouble.  It's hard to get them to look towards the camera.  They know it's no threat compared to what is out there in the dark.

Life on the Permafrost Ranch

Life in the Fast Lane

Old Bubba was telling me, life here on the Permafrost Ranch really isn't in the fast lane is it.  I have to admit it to  him, but living here is like living in the backwoods, not much ever changes.

Looking Out

Little Girl on the Lookout

She is aggressive and tries to drive Bubba off his feeder here lately and when he's gone from it.  She raids the goodie bowels...

Spinning Bird Heads

Have you seen it

I've seen it on the net, have you.  The picture of the bird with the spinning head, it's gone around the world in emails.  Well even the old squirrel here on the Permafrost Ranch has one.  I wonder if it will fly around the world.
