Political Disconnect

Reality Check

This old squirrel was going through the email that we got this morning over a cup of coffee and sunflower seeds.  "There really seems to be a major reality disconnect between the Party and the convictions of the old guard here in the Great Land."   I really have to agree, I said  after reading the Party emails I just got.  I think some of the faithful I told the old squirrel are willing to put up with the delusion of being moral, as long as they stay in power.

Up Coming Election

Wondering Out Loud

What do you think, asked the old squirrel.  Do you think, Senator Stevens will win the election if he doesn't step down after this conviction?  I don't know I replied, but I do know this.  The corruption was and is still ingrained in our Great Land.  Even our local Fairbanks Mayor has gone over to the Dark side with a political TV ad backing Senator Stevens.    Didn't a past Mayor and his wife get convicted of stealing money from a Senator Stevens developed grant for them asked the old squirrel.  I had to shake my head yes.  The old squirrel then looked at me and said, looks like your right about the corruption.

Politics in the Oil Patch of Alaska

Powell jumps the Republican Ship

Well, this sure threw the Republicans for a loop, I'm betting says this squirrel.  Were you as shocked as I was he asked me.  I said I was but then it's a very special time we are living in.

Why the Secrecy

sensitive Palin ethics report kept secret

Sam Magpie stopped by the feeder and was telling the old squirrel he saw that in the Daily News Miner  He couldn't understand why.  If she is innocent as all claim, and it's all a political ploy out to get Governor Palin.  Then why all the secrecy.   The old squirrel is just as mystified by it all.

The US Firesign Theater

Are we all Bozos on this bus

Well, after listening to the news that the economy, and the market are all taking a beating.  Then I hear said the old squirrel, a lot of people are worried and the Red Cross said the donations are down. So the poor suffer even more.  Then he says I hear the  Suits who took over the failed AIG after they got the bail out loan took a vacation retreat for big bucks.  You humans are nuttier than a squirrel turd.

Political Commercials

TV Commercials

This old squirrel has always been interested in the making of political commercials on TV.  I swear they remind him of the old fashioned snake oil salesmen of yesteryear he told me this morning.   Buyer beware.

Sarah Palin Acceptance Speech

I think it was great

I think she did just fine, said this old squirrel.  Heck I'll vote for her.

Voles

I'm all Ears

This old vole was telling the squirrel this afternoon, that he was all ears and couldn't wait to hear Sarah Palins acceptance speech.  The old squirrel said even his aunti had called all the way from the Great State of Texas to ask about his thoughts on her.

Politics in the Oil Patch of Alaska

Politics is more fun than a bag of nuts

Wow, what  a media feeding frenzy we are seeing on our illustrious first lady of the state of Alaska.  It always amazes me, this kind of feeding frenzy.  That's what it reminds me of, said this old squirrel.

History

Historical Events
Over coffee this morning here on the Permafrost Ranch, budda belly said.  "Wow, what a day yesterday.  History was made, you know there is milestones in ones life where we always look at where we are, where we have been, and where we think we are going.  Yesterday was one of those days.  The first time in the history of the United States of America that a man of color was nominated by the Democratic Convention to run for the President."  Do we think some day, we may see a Native American in this role
