I picked up a new Monitor oil furnace for this back part of the house.  The old squirrel was there to supervise the installation.  At least the beginning installation.   I can't wait until it's in place and working.  Now, we won't have to try to force warm air from the front of the house where the wood stove is located to the rear of the house, where this office located.  As always, I can't ever install anything new with out having to either purchase or borrow a tool I need.   This morning I'm going to have to wait until the hardware store is open to buy a 8 inch bit to drill through the wall where the exhaust and the oil line will go.

Sam Magpie stopped by the feeder and was telling the old squirrel he saw that in the Daily News Miner  He couldn't understand why.  If she is innocent as all claim, and it's all a political ploy out to get Governor Palin.  Then why all the secrecy.   The old squirrel is just as mystified by it all.

Well, after listening to the news that the economy, and the market are all taking a beating.  Then I hear said the old squirrel, a lot of people are worried and the Red Cross said the donations are down. So the poor suffer even more.  Then he says I hear the  Suits who took over the failed AIG after they got the bail out loan took a vacation retreat for big bucks.  You humans are nuttier than a squirrel turd.

The below picture is the results of the clearing that wore out this old squirrel.  By the time it's cut to length and split will be about 3 cords of fire wood.  Next year after it ages a winter and summer.

This old squirrel and I were discussing the situation concerning our politicians and the economy.  Do you trust them to do the right thing he asked.  After listening to the suits who ran the banking systems into the ground while themselves made millions.  Then after reading the transcripts of the trial of our illustrious Senator who considered himself above the law.  He said we have all been deceived and trusting them again is foolish he thinks.  The election is right around the corner and he asked me, what do you think the people in this country are going to do.  Keep the old guard in place or sweep them out with the rest of the trash.

This picture was sent to me this morning by Diane in North Carolina.  On the side of the house where this feeder is located, I store my lodge poles on racks under the eve of the house.  When the flyers use them as landing pads and running down them they thump and rattle.  So, I know like a alarm clock that the flyers are out there.  Diane happen to grab this very picture off the web page at the same moment I'm sitting here watching out the window at them.

How can you guys bail out the rich old boys in the real estate and banking business along with the auto industry?  Yet I hear from the ravens down town that many of the food banks and soup kitchens supplying groceries for the poor are empty and needing donations.  This country has upside down priorities if you ask me.

This old squirrel was complaining to me today about the increasing hours of darkness.  He said, he didn't want to hang around the feeder when the crowd of flyers shows up.  I asked him, why he felt that way, and he said  "you know they are a rowdy bunch always jumping up and flying off the handle so to speak"

Sometimes, I watch out my window at the squirrels and birds and feel as if I'm a lucky guy.  I've been thinking of leaving Alaska.  Not that I don't love this place but that the cost of living here is just getting higher and higher.  

Nonetheless, I won't leave because of one thing.  Fear, fear of being homeless if I should sell this place and leave.  I know I'll never get enough to purchase a new place completely if I ever should leave this one.  

So, I'am here until the Creator calls me I guess or my ship sails up the Badger Slough.  I kind of doubt as that will ever happen.
