2008 Powwow and Eagle Release

Please, check out the Bird Treatment and Learning Centers write up of our Powwow. Here is a picture they took of my lodge at this years powwow, we kept the eagle in there until release. These folks are a special group of people to do what they do and we really appreciate it.

That's a great looking lodge Robert, considerably bigger than than my new camping digs ( http://www.stageleft.info/2008/07/05/new-camping-gear/ ) it ain't so big but it fits on the back of the bike real nice :-)

My first camping pow-wow of the year is at Pikwakanagan, a ceremonial pow-wow (never did get the hang of those competition events). My favorite part is sitting around this, that, or the other, camp fire at night, drinking coffee, telling stories, and catching up with folks ya haven't seen since last year.

Leaving here on a Wednesday (Tuesday evening if I can swing it) for a couple of days at the river to "get the city off me", move to the pow-wow grounds Friday afternoon, stay there until Sunday evening when the event ends, Sunday - Tuesday camping on some friends property, then back to the city Tuesday evening.

I may almost be sane again after that much time in the great outdoors :-)

Thank you for sharing your corner of Alaska. I will miss your site but I am grateful for your sharing. Best of luck wherever you go and whatever you do. I am sure you will be missed at next year's Pow Wow, Unless you go back for a visit.
