Squirreling Away for the Cold Weather
This old squirrels has it's work cut out for it. Already, the old back is starting to complain.
Squirrel Chatter, just ramblings and rants from the Great Alaskan Red Squirrel Cam on the road across America. Looking for nuts.
I've been spending week-ends with friends of mine who live 100 miles out helping get their winter wood ready to go - for very unfortunate reasons he has to dedicate a lot of his time to looking after his wife this year and that takes time away from things like log sawing, wood splitting, and brush clearing... so I'm doing what I can to help.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I did that sort of work so I'm feeling the aches and pains as well. Winter is coming though and we'll have lots of time to let the kinks work themselves out 'eh?
Winter doesn't amount to much down here in Mississippi. It was 75 degrees this morning and rain is in the air. I will cut and split two to two and a half cords of wood and heat our house for the entire winter. I really enjoy doing it every year, but while I am cutting, I am always reminded of an old saying. I think it is attributed to Ben Franklin. Firewood warms you twice, once when you cut it and once when you burn it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get that pile finished up soon, and wish I could come up and help you.
