That day, 5 years ago... We were shocked, stunned and rivited to watching the horror that was the twin towers on that date.

May God bless those who were lost. This was the day the war began, and it's not over yet. We shouldn't ever let down our guard until we win this war over those who would plan and condone such acts.

I just grabbed a screen shot of Googles Main News page...It looks as if they got hacked. I went back to it with a few minutes after notifying them of it. And the article was pulled.

Politics in the Oil Patch of Alaska 2

Just a upgrade to let everyone know that the primary election slapped Mr. Murkowski right out of office. It has shaken up the status quo of politics in the Great Land. Now, yesterday another slap was delivered by the FBI and Federal Law enforcement with raids on offices of mostly Republican politicians including Ben Stevens, our illustrious state senators son and the VECO Oil Service Company. They paid him almost a quarter of a million bucks to be a consultant while he was in office. Imagine that, no wonder his daddy was incensed with the appointment of the new federal prosecutor for the state. In my humble opinion it's just the tip of the ice berg and what's below the water is Veco, the oil companies and the whole Republican Party. The most corrupting influence peddling schemes and money laundering of which they are a big part of. I have been saying this all along, we have the best politicians money can buy. It is rampant and entrenched in the Republican Party of this state. The good old boys club of big money and greed. And it goes all the way to the top of the pile if the truth was ever known. The whole barrel of them is rotten to core, not just one or two of the apples. Our own interior delegation of Republicans are awfully quiet all of a sudden. Not one word, are they next in line for a knock on their office doors by the FBI.

Fall Migration

I was sitting here just being quiet and still and then I heard them. The Sandhill Cranes, as I ran out to look, I saw them, a large flock, gathering and circling over the house. They do that just before they form up in the large flying v formations and head south. There they were calling to each other and to me. It's time, they are saying, it's time. Time to fly south. I wish, oh how I wish sometimes that I too, could just head on down the flyways ahead of the coming chill of winter. It's coming... It's coming they are crying...The hawk of winter. All my life, the fall season has drawn out my wonder lust. The urge to go, to follow the wild goose.

Squirrel Cutie2

This is such a pretty little squirrel. I love to watch them when they come to my feeder, and they see me there. Taking pictures of them. Sometimes they are spooked by me standing there in the window. Sometimes they just don't care, or they know that I'm harmless to them.

Chelsea & Jess Huprich's Wedding Party

Yesterday, we attended Chelsea & Jess Huprich's wedding party up at Gus & Gari's house. They are long time friends of ours and we have known this young lady since the day she was born. I wish them many years of happiness. It was a beautiful afternoon for a wedding party.

Politics in the Oil Patch of Alaska

This is a rant, disregard if your not aware of the politics and tax issues facing Alaska. How convenient that before the vote on raising taxes against the oil companies, that BP would stop the flow of oil from Prudhoe. With their lack of foresight in taking care of corroding pipes for 14 years it would bubble to surface right at the most critical time in the vote. How convenient that this should happen when they have the highest oil prices and profits in years. Am I the only one who thinks this was a political ploy. If it smells like crude, taste like crude, feels like crude, I'm betting it's crap. Of course, everyone is now thinking about the money there is to be made fixing the problem. The Unions, big business (VECO), and oil workers of course are all straining at the bit for the short time money that will flow into their coffers and check books. Everyone of them is forgetting the long term affects that the Murkowski Plan will have on the state by giving the oil companies these huge tax breaks. Short sighted decisions will come back to haunt us. After the vote in the State Senate and House, I've come to one conclusion. We have the best politicians money can buy. They should all be sent packing at the next election. I'm for not voting for a single incumbent running for office in the next election. Mark my words, the electorate of Alaska won't do that. The good old boys rule the day. Who is going to pay, we all are at the pump, and no amount of gas coming down the purposed future gas line will help defray our extreme high cost of living we have to deal with. Just like the promise of the oil line. It's all hype, rhetoric and illusions for average Alaskans.

Got this shot of a little female Downy at the feeder...these little woodpeckers are such a treat to hear in the woods.

We have both the Downy, Hairy, and Northern Flickers sometimes.
